This is a personal piece. I always wanted to do pin-ups and this is the first of (hopefully) a long series. I had a professional model pose for this illustration.

The mood and colors were in part inspired by a pin-up piece by Greg Hildebrandt.

This was painted entirely in Photoshop, first I created a flat for the shape, then added a Solid Color adjustment layer set on multiply above it and proceeded to shape the volumes as explained in one of my tutorials. This step is all done in B&W so I can make sure the values are correct. Then I added a couple of Curves adjustment layers to add color and the different tones. Lastly, the bg was done using custom brushes.

Enjoy!

Star Wars Insider Magazine Cover

This is a cover Lucas Arts commissioned to me for their Star Wars insider magazine. It was fun to paint the portraits of the Jedis on the wanted poster in the background. The real challenge though, was to get Obi Wan likeness exactly.. they are very picky about that

Scarlet (GIJOE)

This is a cover I did last year for the GIJOE comic book. They actually used an alternate version though.

I posed myself for the Ninja fighters reference. I had a professional model pose for the Scarlet character. This piece took about 4 days. The most difficult part was to get all those ninjas in the composition. I recently retouched the original version a bit and gave it a more reddish overall tone.

Due to time constraints I painted the entire image in B&W first, then colorized it on separate color layers or using the curves tool. You can see an example of this technique in a tutorial ("Howling") on my website.
Technique: Photoshop and Wacom tablet

This is a portrait of Wonder Woman I did for my portfolio. It was later published in the yearly UDON comics artbook.

I used a professional model to pose for the character. The background is based on a XSI render of an old poser prop model. Ancient ruins from her home...

This piece took me about 3 days. I gave her a sexier look than usual
